“Great Accomodation, Spotless”

Stayed at the Miners Arms whilst on the C2C cycle route. We had one of the 2 large rooms that are newly redecorated, ultra modern and well appointed with Sky TV and massive bathroom with spa shower and heated floor. This is a perfect place to stay if you dont fancy staying in a bunk house (which is what the 2 rooms were prior to the conversion). The rooms are to the side of the pub so are very quiet.

The evening meal and next day breakfast was lovely and all home cooked with local ingredients in a light bright conservatory setting. The landlady was extremely helpful and friendly and very down to earth and we enjoyed discussing with her all of the fund raising activities the Nenthead community had carried out for the benefit of visitors such as the play area, the toilet facilities and the green as well as the proposed snowplough to help the snowed-in residents this winter!

The Miners Arms itself is a pub full of characters and they were very welcoming. The wood burning stoves and comfy armchairs added to the ambience. We would thoroughly recommend staying here as it is very good value for money and we can't think of anything negative to say.

“Fantastic - a gorgeous hidden gem”

Big rooms that have just been redecorated. Lovely design (not a net curtain in sight) and well appointed with Sky TV and massive bathroom with spa shower. The rooms are round the side of the pub, not above it, so they're quiet. The pub itself does absolutely fantsatic food that is all home cooked by the proprietor herself (who is charming - helpful and friendly without being over the top). Altogether a fabulous stay that was really good value. The location is Nenthead village, near Alston. It's very small and quaint (but does have a little grocery store) and The Miners Arms is the highest pub in England. It's also on the C2C cycle route..

“Excellent stay, wonderful host”

We stayed one night here en route south. We booked after reading reviews on Tripadvisor and loved this accommodation. Alison has completely refurbished her two rooms and our's was spacious, clean, modern and extremely comfortable on a cold grey wet night. The walk in shower was excellent, heating very good too. These are rooms attached to the village pub and we ate a very good evening meal there by the two coal fires, kept company by Alsion's 2 friendly cats. We happened to be there the night the Chilean miners were rescued and the atmosphere in this mining community was wonderful as we all cheered them on. Alison cooked us a great breakfast the next morning and set us up for the day. Cyclists: this is for you as there is also a great bike repair shop next door ! Good pit stop to factor in on your map.....
